our community services

One Tree’s community services also include the Bali Orphanage sponsorship project. Each service contributes to fundraising for the orphanage to help meet the basic needs of the children who live there.

The provision of services to marginalised communities gives relief and respite from isolation, poverty, discrimination and misfortune to the people who need it most. One Tree services also provide children with the opportunity to access the universal right of education to alleviate the effects of poverty.

The organisation’s Wadeye Safe House received the National Homelessness Award – Closing the Gap for Excellence in Addressing Indigenous Homelessness 2012. The Safe House provides emergency accommodation and support for women and children who are experiencing domestic violence.

The introduction of the Wadeye Safe House and the Wadeye Children and Family Centre has seen a marked improvement in children referred to the program who were ‘failing to thrive.’ It has also seen an increase in children developing skills to support attendance at school.

One Tree is proud of its many achievements in the Wadeye community, which include the introduction of the Trailer project, an initiative started by the Wadeye Safe House women who formed a cooperative to own and manage the borrowing of equipment for their homes.

One Tree also operates Children and Family Centres in Kununurra and Roebourne. These services provide early learning opportunities and access to community services programs for the Kununurra and Roebourne communities. One Tree works with a range of local Indigenous, child, education and allied health professionals to deliver quality programs within these services.

One Tree has been awarded a government contract to provide a parenting support program at the Derby prison. The Parenting Advice and Support Services (PASS) program will educate and support clients pre- and post-release through a range of socially inclusive services to improve parenting confidence and capacity. The PASS will focus on supporting and empowering clients and their families.

One Tree’s community services also include the Bali Orphanage sponsorship project. Each service contributes to fundraising for the orphanage to help meet the basic needs of the children who live there.
