One Tree branches out with two new services in Victoria

The start of the New Year brought with it the beginning of very exciting times as our two services opened in Victoria in January as part of the One Tree community.

One Tree successfully tendered for the centres and worked with the Hobsons Bay City Council over a number of months to transfer the centres to our organisation.

Our new Altona Meadows and Altona North services opened on 11 January to families after a week of training for our staff. One Tree’s General Manager of Children’s Services, Coral Callan, and Regional Managers Brad Miller and Sarah Short came down and spent the week with the teams doing team building and inductions. The teams are a mix of existing One Tree staff, Hobsons Bay staff and educators new to One Tree. All come from a variety of backgrounds and have different experience, giving everyone the opportunity to share their strengths and learn from one another.

Karen Curtis has taken on the role of Director at Altona Meadows. She has worked for One Tree for the past four years as a director at various remote services. Originally from Melbourne, Karen has moved back to be near to her family and take up a new challenge. Karen’s passion and respect for children drives her and inspires all those around her.

Ruth Goga has recently joined the team as Director at our Altona North service. She comes with a wealth of experience in childcare and has worked in various roles, from kinder teacher to centre coordinator. Ruth believes in the Reggio Emelia philosophy and principals, and this is evident in her practice.

We welcome you all and know that your children will love their time spent with us. As we move forward, we respect the unique histories of each service. Looking ahead, we are excited by the possibilities, opportunities and challenges to come and the relationships that will be built along the way.
