About us

You will be warmly welcomed to this small, bustling service, 382km southwest of Katherine. The service is inspired by child-led approaches. It offers a bilingual program where children learn Ngaringman with the local team members.

The position

As the Director – you will lead, inspire and mentor educators to ensure the service is providing a high-quality early childhood education in a remote Aboriginal community. You are responsible for overseeing the operations of the 25-place centre, where you will support and warmly welcome children and families.

Your ability to recognise and develop the strengths in children and your team and a commitment to work within One Tree Community Service’s spirit, purpose and values will be your key to success.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year’s experience in a managerial role or extensive 2IC experience.

What you’ll do

  • Be able to lead and manage a team
  • Complete rosters according to the ratio requirements
  • Handle the day-to-day operations of the service
  • Mentor and lead by example
  • Create partnerships with staff, families, the community, and One Tree
  • Oversee continuous improvements and compliance for the service
  • Ensure the workplace operates within Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) requirements
  • Manage budgets and funding
  • Manage staff, including performance, recruitment, professional development, and performance appraisals
  • Deliver a curriculum in accordance with One Tree’s philosophy
  • Act as a Responsible Person and Nominated Supervisor of the service

What you’ll need

  • Be eligible to work in Australia and willing to relocate to Yarralin
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or (ACECQA approved equivalent)
  • Valid NT Ochre card (Working with Children Check)
  • Current National Police Clearance certificate (less than 6 months old)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate
