Position: 2IC/Educational Leader
Status: Full time (Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: $82,641.00 – $85,020.00 per annum (Inclusive of Worker Retention Payment – WRP) + $16.98 Ed Leader allowance per day + additional allowances and superannuation
Qualification: Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or ACECQA approved equivalent)
Location: One Tree Little Geckos – One Tree Defence Unit, Tindal NT

The Team:
One Tree Defence Unit Little Geckos, Tindal NT
Located at the RAAF Base Tindal, just 15 km outside of Katherine and caters to Defence personnel and their families. Katherine is the fourth largest settlement in the Northern Territory and is known as the place where “The outback meets the tropics”. Situated on the Katherine River 320km southwest of Darwin.
The team have created three separate learning environments for different age groups. Children feel like they belong here, and so will you. They have capacity for 73 children and operate between 7am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. On the weekends the adventure and experiences of the surrounding region will have you longing for the great outdoors. Travel, adventure, and an amazing career – you can have it all!
The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated 2IC or Educational Leader who is passionate about supporting children and fostering their growth. As a 2IC or Educational Leader, you will be essential in ensuring clear, effective communication across all service levels, creating an environment of collaboration, professionalism, trust, and respect for all ages at One Tree Little Geckos. Your responsibilities will include overseeing compliance with educational and safety standards, ensuring a secure and enriching learning space, and assisting educators with programming and room projects.
Additionally, you will play a crucial role in driving community engagement and building strong relationships with families and stakeholders. With a proven track record in Assessment and Rating, achieving ‘Meeting’ or ‘Exceeding’ standards, your commitment to continuous improvement and professional development will significantly contribute to our service’s success and the educational journey of our children.

Requirements/Qualifications:
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or ACECQA-approved equivalent)
- Confidence supporting children with additional needs
- Strong skills in positive behaviour guidance and reflective practice
- Current and valid NT Ochre clearance
- Clear National Police clearance certificate (less than 6 months old)
- Current First Aid, CPR certificate and Child Protection training
- Previous employment experience in a leadership capacity
