We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic OSHC Room Leader with 2+years experience to join our team from 15 April 2026 to 15 October 2026.

About Us
One Tree Defence Unit Puckapunyal located near Seymour in Regional Victoria, is committed to providing an enriching and nurturing environment where children thrive. We adhere to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), focusing on delivering high-quality educational programs that foster holistic development. We have placements for 86 children across our long day care. We have several rooms including pre kinder, nursery, toddler room, preschool and outside of school hours care. Our operating hours are 7am to 6pm.

About the Role

As the Room Leader, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of a high-quality Before and After School Care program, as well as supporting the Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program during school holiday periods. You will also be required to work across our Long Day Care program, providing support to the service covering lunch breaks and planning.

You will mainly work with children aged 6–12 years, supporting their wellbeing, learning and development through engaging programs aligned with the My Time, Our Place – Framework for School Age Care.
This role requires you to act as the Responsible Person when required and support the team to maintain a safe, welcoming and well-organised service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support educators to deliver a high-quality OSHC program
  • Plan and implement engaging activities aligned with My Time, Our Place
  • Ensure active supervision and safe environments in line with the National Quality Framework
  • Support children’s social, emotional and developmental needs
  • Maintain positive relationships with children, families, school staff and colleagues
  • Guide educators through positive behaviour support strategies
  • Assist with documentation, routines, transitions and daily program organisation
  • Support the service during school holiday OSHC programs
  • Support and engage with the Long Day Care program, providing care and learning experiences for younger children as required.

Your strengths include:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide and support educators while maintaining a positive team culture
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, educators and school staff
  • Solid understanding of school-age child development and supporting children’s social and emotional wellbeing
  • Experience planning and implementing engaging programs aligned with My Time, Our Place – Framework for School Age Care
  • Ability to maintain safe environments and active supervision in line with the National Quality Framework
  • Skilled in positive behaviour guidance and conflict resolution with school-aged children
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills to manage routines, transitions and documentation
  • A reliable and supportive team player committed to an inclusive, respectful and child-centred environment
  • Knowledge of the Child Safe Standards and how to implement them in practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in OSHC or school-age care
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • National Police check or willing to obtain
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma certificates
  • Mandatory child protection training certificate
  • Ability to be nominated as a Responsible Person under the service approval

Our OSHC Program:

  • Before & After School Care: 7:00am – 9:00am and 3:00pm – 6:00pm during school terms.
  • Vacation Care: 7:00am – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, during school holidays.
