About the Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Casual Payroll Officer to provide additional support during the busy EOFY period. This role will assist with payroll processing, award and rate updates, reconciliations, and general payroll administration to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. Experience with payroll systems, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment will be highly regarded. Flexibility to assist with EOFY tasks, compliance updates, and rate changes is essential.
What You’ll Do
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Process accurate fortnightly payroll, including leave, allowances, deductions, and back payments.
- Review and verify payroll reports for accuracy; ensure timely data input the payroll system.
- Implement changes to payroll procedures resulting from Modern Awards or Enterprise Agreement updates, including pay rates and allowances.
- Administer salary packaging, fringe benefits, and superannuation across multiple funds.
- Stay updated on legislative and award changes and apply them appropriately.
- Respond to employee and manager payroll enquiries with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Liaise with internal teams and auditors to ensure ongoing compliance and process integrity.
- Contribute to payroll reporting, audits, and system improvements.
- Interpret and apply Modern Awards, NES, and Enterprise Agreements accurately in payroll activities.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a payroll role (end-to-end processing essential)
- Strong understanding of Fair Work Act, NES, Modern Awards, and EA interpretation
- Proficiency in Excel and payroll systems (HR3 and/or Humanforce desirable)
- Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and data integrity
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive information discreetly
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Prior experience in NFP, childcare, or community services sectors (highly regarded)
- Payroll qualification (desirable)
- National Police Clearance
