School-based traineeships

At One Tree Community Services, we offer school-based traineeships through our Registered Training Organisation (registration number 52228).

What is a school-based traineeship?

Over two years, school-based trainees complete a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. While still attending high school, trainees are paid to work one day a week in an early childhood service.

Why should I do a school-based traineeship?

It is an excellent way for high school students to gain hands-on experience. It also opens doors to a rewarding career in early education and care. The traineeship comes at no cost to the students.

Why choose One Tree?

  • Face-to-face support
Students receive face-to-face training in a classroom when there is a minimum of four trainees enrolled. If there are less than four trainees enrolled, trainees will receive face-to-face training on a one-on-one basis. This will either take place at their school or workplace. We also provide support via video call, phone call and email, as required.
  • Collaborative communication
We work closely with the employer and the school to ensure mentoring and performance reports are managed effectively.
  • Future employment opportunities
We operate Early Childhood Education and Care services in most states and territories. This enables us to provide strong future employment opportunities to trainees.

Where are school-based traineeships available?

In Western Australia, we offer school-based traineeships in metropolitan Perth, as well as the Pilbara, Kimberley and Gascoyne regions. In the Northern Territory, we offer school-based traineeships in metropolitan areas and remote communities, including Wadeye, Kalkarindji and Yarralin.
