Balim Balim Kindergarten

Kindergarten
Wyndham City Council, Wadawurrung Country

Balim Balim Kindergarten was formed in partnership with Wyndham Aboriginal Community Centre and Wyndham City Council. We are located in the Wunggurrwil Dhurrung Centre – meaning “Strong Heart” in Wadawurrung language. We share the facilities with an Integrated Family Centre (IFC) and a dedicated Aboriginal Community Centre. Together, we seek to provide a culturally safe space where people of all ages and cultures are welcome to gather.

Our approach

We aim to deliver a safe and inclusive learning environment where children grow to meet their potential. All our kindergarten rooms are warm and comforting, with children’s artwork displayed to showcase their talents. We embrace the natural environment and focus on embedding local Aboriginal perspectives in daily routines.

Our community

Our service has made strong connections with the local community. We work collaboratively with the Koling Wada-ngal, Local Elders, Aboriginal Maternal Child Health Nurse and the Koorie Education and Support Officers.

Our service

We are an 104-place service, open Monday to Friday. You can view our virtual tour on the Wyndham City Council website. Based on our most recent assessment, we are currently Exceeding the National Quality Standards.

Our educational program

We offer free Victorian Government funded sessional kindergarten for three and four-year-olds. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS) to support each child’s learning and development.

One Tree’s educational program aligns with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy that educators are co-learners who collaborate with children.
