Volunteer/contractor registration

One Tree Community Services values the contribution of volunteers and support contractors in our services. These may include:

  • Parents and family members
  • Students on placement
  • Community elders and other members of the community.
  • KIS and inclusion support workers
  • Contractors providing services to children (e.g. entertainment, language/literacy/photographers)

Child safety responsibilities

The safety of our volunteers, visitors, contractors, and most importantly, our children and young people, is of the utmost importance. This page contains valuable information to ensure anyone volunteering in a One Tree service is fully informed of their responsibilities in relation to keeping children safe, and their safety, while attending a One Tree Service.

Data collection and compliance

If you are volunteering in an ACECQA approved service (early childhood or OSHC) One Tree has a legal requirement to collect certain data and log this with the ACECQA National Register. One Tree will only share the information we are legally required to by law. You can find more information on the National register here.

How to volunteer

If you would like to volunteer at a One Tree service, and have already engaged with the service to express your interest, please complete the following steps:

Step 1: Watch the below three videos.

Please be mindful these videos contain references to child abuse and neglect, and may be triggering to some people. If you would like to talk to someone about this, you can contact 1800RESPECT.

Video 1: Workplace health and safety

Video 2: Mandatory reporting

Video 3: Protective behaviours

Step 2: Read the volunteer declaration.

Carefully read the volunteer declaration below, and complete. If you have any questions about your responsibilities as a volunteer, you can contact childsafe@onetree.org.au.

Step 3: Email your Working with Children Check

Email a copy of your Working with children check (WWCC), if required, to nationalregister@onetree.org.au.
To find out if you need a WWCC, please check the table here.

All persons attending the service share responsibility for protecting the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of children and must act in accordance with safeguarding requirements at all times.

I acknowledge and agree that: I will be supervised at all times by an authorised staff member. I will not be alone with any child or group of children. I will remain within sight and/or hearing of staff at all times. I will not supervise, discipline, or provide personal care to children. I will follow all staff instructions and service procedures.
I declare that: I must comply with the Working With Children Check (WWCC), Working With Vulnerable People Check, or equivalent child-related screening legislation in the relevant state or territory. Where required by law, I must hold a valid and current clearance before engaging in child-related activities. I have not been issued with a Negative Notice, Interim Negative Notice, or equivalent exclusion under any Australian Working With Children Check or child-related screening legislation. I am not prohibited from engaging in child-related work. I will immediately notify the service if my Working With Children Check status changes.
I agree to: maintain appropriate professional boundaries with children at all times. Follow the One Tree’s applicable policies and procedures. Immediately report any safety or safeguarding concerns to authorised One Tree staff. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and service operations. Not photograph, record, or capture images of children using personal devices.
I declare that: I declare that I am suitable to be present in a child-related environment and will comply with safeguarding requirements. I understand that One Tree Community Services may refuse, restrict, or withdraw my access at any time if safety or safeguarding concerns arise.
I give permission for One Tree Community Services to share my information with the ACECQA National Register. I understand One Tree will only share the information that they are required to by law.
